“My horse fights with me and fasts with me because if he is to carry me into battle, he must know my heart and I must know his or we shall never become brothers. I have been told that the white man who is almost a god, and yet a great fool, does not believe the horse has a soul. This cannot be true. I have many times seen my horse’s soul in his eyes.”

THE EPONA EXPERIENCE
Equine Assisted Personal Development
It took us two-legged creatures generations to discover the healing power of horses, generations during which we used them to help us master the world. Yet if we take the time to listen, if we are open to learn from them, horses can show us how to balance our ego nature with our inner self and teach us how to evolve into beings at peace in the world.
As prey animals, horses are always in the moment, always aware of their surroundings. We are predators, intruders in their world but by learning to look at the world through the eyes of a horse, by learning to speak their very rich language, we can learn the art of being in the present.
By introducing participants to the non-verbal communication skills of horses, Doctor Foxx, a lifelong horseman and part-time cowboy, is able to uncover many of the factors that contribute to life stress. This is accomplished entirely by being in the presence of these magnificent creatures, without actually getting on a horse, and is perfect for rider and non-rider alike.
Doctor Foxx takes small groups out to his pasture for three hour sessions. If all goes well, participants are rewarded with valuable insights into managing stress and occasionally are able to acquire tools with which to handle future stressful situations.
Sessions are given from October through May and are limited to four participants. Cost per person is $400.
(In the Gallo-Roman religion, Epona was the protector of horses and leader of souls in the after-life. In the Gaulish language, Epona means “great mare.”)
